chalmers2The Division of Condensed Matter Physics has over 20 years of excellence in research on electrolytes for lithium batteries (liquids, gels, polymers, ionic liquids) as well as fuel cell studies. Our expertise in ab initio/DFT calculations and  (in situ) spectroscopic measurements is used to reveal mechanisms and explain new materials in order to optimize performance – both using model systems and real batteries.

We work together with the vehicle industry for the electromobility revolution to come true – for a sustainable future. To accomplish this we are currently shifting our focus towards "next generation batteries"; Na-ion, Li-S, Na-S, Mg, etc.
